
Ted Robinson Principal
Over the past forty years Ted Robinson has designed over 170 golf courses throughout the world. Current honors include the selection of Sahalee Country Club in Redmond, Washington as the site of the 1998 PGA Tour Championship and the Experience at Koele on the island of Lanai, Hawaii as one of the best new resort courses in the world. In 1993, he was named as one of the Best in the West by Western Golf Links Magazine. Robinson designed courses are currently ranked in the top five in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Hawaii. In Orange County, he is the designer of Tustin Ranch and Tijeras Creek, two of the most financially successful public facilities in Southern California. Locally, he has completed over twenty golf courses in the Palm Springs area including the Marriott Desert Springs, Grand Champions in Indian Wells, and the new Tahquitz Creek Golf Course for the City of Palm Springs.
Ted Robinson is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Master of Science degrees in Landscape Architecture and Land Planning. He began his career as a land planner while teaching at USC. Golf Course Architecture gradually supplanted urban design until it became the dominant activity 40 years ago. He is past President and currently a Fellow of the American Society of Golf Course Architects.

Since joining the family firm in 1991, Ted Robinson Jr. has been principally involved with the design of such golf courses as: Rancamaya Golf Club, Bogor, Indonesia; Pinx Golf Club, Cheju Island, Korea; Tahquitz Creek Golf Course, Palm Springs, California; the Phoenician, Scottdale, Arizona; Riverwalk Golf Course, San Diego, California; Pelican Lakes, Windsor, Colorado; and, the Marriott Los Suenos Resort in Bahia Herradura, Costa Rica. In 1995, he began processing for the development of a 36-hole public golf facility on 400 acres in Santa Clarita, California. Named in honor of his father, Robinson Ranch was co-designed by the Robinsons and opened in February, 2000. Recent projects include Tuscany Hills, Henderson, Nevada and Arrowood Golf Club, Oceanside, California.
Prior to Joining RGD, Ted Jr. spent 14 years in real estate construction financing, the last six as Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for Wells Fargo Bank in Los Angeles. During his tenure at Wells Fargo, the Los Angeles region underwrote over $5 billion in local development including high rise office buildings, industrial parks, regional and neighborhood shopping centers, apartment buildings, master planned residential communities and golf courses. In 1989, he became a partner in a San Diego based development firm and oversaw the financing and construction of commercial shopping centers with an aggregate value in excess of $100 million.
Ted Robinson Jr. received an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California in 1975 and a Masters degree in Business Administration in 1977. He is currently a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Golf Course Superintendents Association.
